It's one of my favorite things about myself although I clearly recall in grade two, handwriting J's like F's just as the principal came into the classroom to observe. Although heat flooded me, he didn't seem to mind a bit.
Did you know males are more likely left-handed than females? How special am I? In fact, there are twice as many left-handed boys as girls. Neither of my kids got it, though.
I share the stage with some pretty cool left-handed folks: Picasso, da Vinci, Michelangelo, Beethoven, Paul Mc Cartney, Lou Gehrig, Helen Keller, Prezzes Garfield, George H.W. Bush, Clinton and Reagan (is Obama, too?), and some other guys I like: Ben Franklin and Mark Twain.
Well, I've no politics in me, but I did major in Art in college and I do play the piano pretty well. And since the right side of a brain controls the left side of a body, this surely this means I'm in my right mind.
(Although my hero pictured with me at our daughter's recent wedding may lovingly disagree.)

My older son is left-handed, but neither my husband nor I are. My sister is, but neither of her kids are. Is there method to this madness? Here's something weird, too -- though my sister is the left-handed one, she's not creative at all. I'm the total right-brainer, but I'm right handed.
I'm a leftie too. It's comforting to know you're in your right mind, isn't it? Only my handwriting has suffered from having three different right-hand teachers teach me to write three different ways. Blessings on word processors.
My brother and I are both lefties, though our parents are both righties. The genetics of it are poorly understood, but it doesn't seem to be simple inheritance. There is probably more than one gene involved. And of course, people of older generations were often forced to become right-handed, so that complicates things.
So Mark Twain was a leftie? Cool! I love his sense of humor.
Yes, Linda, my mom (nearly 90) is likely left-handed but heartless grade-school teachers used to smack her fingers. I myself learned in the right-handed position which I "corrected" i high school.
Interesting right-brain comment, Helen. My son is a righty but totally right-brained as well.
